Guard App: Complete Feature Overview

Everything guards can do from their phone — clock in, scan checkpoints, complete patrols, log incidents, raise SOS, and view rotas.

Getting Started with the Guard App

The GuardianHub Guard App is available for iOS and Android. Guards receive a download link when their account is created. After installing and signing in with the credentials from their invitation email, guards land on the Home screen — a dashboard showing today's shift details, upcoming patrols, recent OB entries, and any notices from the control room. The bottom navigation gives quick access to all core functions.

Clock In and Clock Out

Guards clock in at the start of their shift by tapping the Clock In button on the home screen. GuardianHub verifies the guard's GPS location against the site geofence — if they're not within range, clock-in is blocked. The system records precise timestamps. At shift end, guards clock out. These timestamps feed into attendance logs, payroll calculations, and Working Time Directive compliance tracking.

If GPS is poor at a site (e.g., underground car parks), admins can configure the geofence radius or enable manual clock-in with a supervisor approval workflow.

Patrol Execution

When a patrol is due, the guard receives a notification and sees it on their home screen. Tapping Start Patrol opens a guided flow showing checkpoints in order. At each checkpoint, the guard scans the NFC tag, QR code, or confirms GPS arrival. The app shows the next checkpoint and remaining time. Guards can add notes or photos at any checkpoint — useful for reporting hazards, damage, or suspicious items. Patrol completion percentage updates live on the control room dashboard.

Occurrence Book and Incident Reporting

The OB tab gives guards quick access to log entries. The Quick Entry Bar handles common events — arrived on site, started patrol, taking break. For incidents, the full form captures detailed descriptions, photo evidence, witness details, and severity classification. Incidents are immediately visible to the control room. Guards can also view the site's OB history to stay informed about what happened on previous shifts.

SOS and Lone Worker Protection

A prominent SOS button is always accessible. Pressing it sends an immediate alert to the control room with the guard's exact GPS location. If the guard is on a lone worker check-in schedule and misses a check-in, the system escalates automatically — first to the guard, then to the control room, then to designated emergency contacts. This layered protection ensures no guard goes unaccounted for.

Rota View and Shift Management

The Rota tab shows the guard's published schedule for the current week and upcoming weeks. Guards can see shift times, assigned sites, and any special instructions. They can also mark themselves unavailable for future dates, request leave, and view cover offers from other guards. Shift swap requests between guards of equal qualification go through a supervisor approval workflow.
